Are you feeling lost, as though you can’t quite understand what you are here on this Earth for? Don’t panic – this is a common feeling and often occurs because we are being led in many different directions.
When this happens our energies become scattered and we may feel drained, fatigued and uncertain about the future and what to put our focus upon. It can feel like you are flatlining and the days may often roll into one another, as you think about what you would really like to do but are forced due to feelings of helplessness and indecisiveness, to settle for second or even third best.
This can be frustrating and when these niggling emotions occur, it can be tempting to procrastinate further or in worst case scenarios, hit the self-destruct button in an attempt to find the happiness or pleasure you are searching for.
What you need to do is to find clarity about what gives you passion…What is your reason for getting up in the morning? Ask yourself if you only had a week left to live, what would you do today to ensure you had lived a happy life and not one filled with regrets?
Sadly many of us don’t question our intentions or purpose in life and as a result, may drift from day to day, feeling uncertain and lost. That’s when life decides for us by default. If you want to find your true life’s purpose it’s important to take a step back and see who you are and know where you are going. You are the director of this real life movie you find yourself in and like it or loathe it, you have the power to change the outcome. It’s up to you to decide how you want to live it.
Here are four ways to live on purpose…
Become The Explorer. The world is your oyster and this includes both the external world and the inner world of our emotions and feelings. Travel, adventures, exploring regions or countries you’ve only heard about in books or in movies can help to put things into perspective for us when it comes to who we are and our place on the planet.
Become the Master of your inner world through meditation and careful self-analysis of how you react to external stimuli for better or worse. Write down your thoughts, feelings and emotions daily to track where they are taking you. Is there a persistent emotion that is shaping your current beliefs? There are techniques available that can help to clear the emotions that no longer serve you.
In the physical world, ask yourself how you can get the adventures you want and draw them to you. Do some soul searching and look at your life so far and the type of people and experiences that have been brought to you. Are they raising you up and providing a sense of fulfilment to your every day…or are they draining your energy and your time?
This could be in terms of travel but it could also refer to the type of career you long for or the friendships and relationships that come into your life. We attract what we think and feel the most so it’s important to try and understand what we really want…so we have crystal clear vision enough that it’s naturally drawn to us. Once we do this we may find that manifesting positive experiences is easy for us.
Do Something That Challenges You. It could be physically or mentally exerting but either way it should be something that gives you enough passion and focus to want to be able to achieve it. There has to be a BIG enough challenge that you can’t wait to get up every morning and tackle it head on. By big, it means it has to be larger than your current life situation. This is of course about perspective, so while for some people climbing up a mountain is their BIG why, for others it is about overcoming their health challenges and being able to find the strength to wake up in the morning or care for a terminally ill loved one. It’s really about intention and putting enough will behind it to make it happen. To push through the resistance to a brighter, happier, healthier outcome for all. That’s why it’s a challenge – not meant to be easy, but certainly worth it.
Trust Your Heart, Not The Head. The mind can make up all kinds of excuses as to why it doesn’t want to do something. We may be lead by the head all of the time…and naturally this goes into disappointment. The mind is always searching for excitement, the next great fix of dopamine or that natural ‘high’ to get through the day. This can be dangerous however as we end up seeking greater thrills and feel disappointed when they don’t deliver as much excitement as the previous time. It can be a perpetuating cycle and hard to get out of…and this is why we should listen to our heart.
The heart is a more focused energy centre that has real feelings of love and good intentions at its core. We know when something feels right as our heart resonates with it and natural feelings of contentment and serenity occur. This is true of relationships, careers, job prospects, life goals, projects we are working on…anything that means we have to put a lot of time and dedication towards making it happen. The energy around the heart is pure and it is this that will ensure we live a life that’s filled with passion and purpose…if only we are willing to tune in to that energy.
Take Daily Action. Life goals aren’t simply going to appear out of nowhere…we’re not going to find the love of our lives or the big house we’ve been searching for by sitting around doing nothing. Yes we can visualise and get clear on our purpose but if we don’t take action steps towards potentially getting what we want…then it will remain a dream and nothing else.
If you struggle with procrastination and find taking action difficult, it might be you have some emotional blocks around wanting to achieve success. This is quite common and they are often picked up from a young age where we might have been told certain things that have no basis in reality. For example, someone might have told us that being successful is a real struggle, that money is the root of all evil, or that no one will love us if we don’t behave in x, y or z culturally acceptable ways.
All of this is someone’s interpretation of what has happened to them and they are projecting it onto impressionable minds…where it is quickly absorbed into beliefs. This can have a defining effect on the mind, even if there is no real source of truth behind it. The mind simply interprets and accepts it as such.
What we need to do is to take a step back and realise that there is no right or wrong way to do anything in life. We simply receive what we believe. Bearing this in mind then, we should focus on bringing the good into our lives and avoiding the bad, as much as possible.
This is sometimes easier said than done but it is possible with the right dedication and Realisation that the Universe is acting through us. It is up to us to choose to use this power for our Highest Good.
When we can do this and we can understand all of the above, then we will start to feel empowered. As each day goes by we will find that our life purpose is so beautifully woven in with the tapestry that everything comes naturally and will appear at the right time and the right place for us.
Once we are emotionally open and willing to accept love and abundance into our lives…this is when our purpose becomes our Higher Reality. Then all we need to do is to follow the path towards feeling this way on a daily basis while encouraging and inspiring others to do the same.
